I am not going to show you how to do a basic layering technique with two images, laying one over the top of the other and resizing the top layer.
1: Open the images in photoshop. Next we need to but the wolf out, you can do this two ways you can used the lasso tool but I find this to be inaccurate for me and it jumps around the image. So I like to zoom in on the image and use the eraser tool and cut the image out that way. To zoom in on an image go to View – Zoom in.
Then to erase the background around the wolf got to Eraser tool.
2: Once we have all of the back ground deleted we are left with a white back ground, we now need to erase this also so that the only image in the layer is the wolf. This is done by going again to Eraser tool then right clicking and clicking on Magic eraser tool. Then you click anywhere on the white and it will erase all of the white.
3: Now we need to move the wolf so we need to select all of him do this by going to Rectangular Marquee tool and selecting all of the wolf. Once this is done go to the Move tool. Hold the mouse down on the wolf and drag him over to the moon image. This will create a new layer on top of the moon image and you wolf will be there. However he is a little to big for the image.
4: We need to resize the wolf so that it fits on the image and looks like he is howling at the moon. This is easy to do by going to Edit – Free transform. This will then create a box around the wolf, you click and hols the mouse down on any corner and drag inwards to resize the wolf until happy.
5: Next I though that the image was showing to much shy so I cropped it down by using the selector tool to select what part of the image I wanted to keep and going to Image – Crop I cropped the image down.
6: Last thing to do is flatten the image this will combine the two layers and all work done on the layers in to one image for saving. Go to Layer – Flatten image.
How to defuse the wolf.
1: Make sure the wolf layer is selected then in the layers box look for the tab defuse, move the slider up and down until you get the desired effect.
How to add a filter to the wolf.
1: Make sure the wolf layer is selected then go to Filters chose your filter I used the Noise – Dust and scratches one.
2: Adjust the effect until happy. (does not apply to some filters.)
Used Photoshop CS5.
