David Hockney.
I want to look at the work of David Hockney as I find it rather fascinating, he does a simple yet striking technique were he uses lots of images of the same photo to create the image. He does not work solely in the photographic media but also working in other media’s like oils and paint, meaning he is very divers in his creation yet they all keep to the same kind of theme, the main image being shown with lots of little ones. It was in the 80’s that he went to photography school and stated to use a Polaroid camera to create his cellarage of images, taken as quickly as possible.
I like this style of working as it give you a different perceptive of the image, you don’t just see one version of the image but several, ranging in size, to different times of the day and light compression.
I like the fact that his art is used to show his love of other people and the own problems and feelings he is going through in his life at the time of the making of the image or even the piece of art. Yet sadly his art has caused him much personal problems in the making and breaking of his romantic relationships but in turn has earned he great respect and admiration.
I absolutely love his work and really do love the fact that there are so manly images used in the creation of one, it give the view fare more to look at than just one image and you get to see that image from lots of different angles so when you are looking at only the one image it really does look like you are looking at a series of images. Like he has made a small study on that particular subject.
