Edited image 2.

This is the manipulation for my second edit. To keep loading down time on the page I am not going to show images of some of the things I have already done in the first edit. Things like erasing.

1. Open the images you want to use. Got to File-Open.

2.To delete the background on the person I used a different idea because the background was all white I could delete it all in one go not have to go along the outline of the person. To do this go to the Eraser Tool then right click it you will then get 3 options click on Magic Eraser Tool, then click on the white background and it will take it all away leaving only the person left.

3.Its time now to put the person on the other layer, I need to highlight the person so went to the Rectangular Marquee tool, I then selected the person, once that was done I went to the Move Tool and dragged the person on to the Hitler layer this created a new layer for the person and now I have two layers on the Hitler image, one for the Hitler layer the other for the person.

4.Now the person is too big for the other layer so we need to resize him. We go to Edit-Free Transform and a box will come around the person, you then use that to re-size him to the size that you want.

5.Next we need to just clean up around the person as some of the white is still there again use the Eraser Tool and the Zoom Tool to do this.

6.Now if we look at the image of Hitler we can see that it’s a little blurs due to the age and the equipment used when taking the photo, some parts of the detail are not very strong like clothing and faces. Now I need to do this on my image because the image is very crisp and there is a lot of detail. So if you go to Blur Tool (looks like a droplet of water) then right click it and make sure Blur Tool is selected. I then went around all the edges of the person and over any area that was high in detail like the face, gun, hands and clothing. This blurred the image down.  

7.I need to turn the person Black and White, I did this by going to Layer-New Adjustment Layer-Black and White. It then turned the whole image black and white.

8.I want to tie the whole photo together as my person still looks out of place so I had to flatten the image so that the next effect would work. I went to Layer-Flatten Image, to do this.

9.I wanted to add some noise to the image to tie it all together and to make my person look like he is meant to be in the image not just placed on, so with the image flattened I went to Filters-Noise-Add Noise. Then a box comes up and you can change the setting to your liking adding as much noise or as little as you want.

Hear I am going to do in to detail on how I did my first edited image. The images of the pains were stock images I found on Goggle as I could not find any air shows that were running this time of year to get any images of plains and I especially wanted spitfires.

1. Open the images you want to use. Got to File-Open.



2. We now need to remove all of the back ground on the officer so that we can put him on top of the plain layer. Go to Eraser tool, you can change the size of the eraser by right clicking on the image you want to edit once you have the eraser tool selected. Then you need to zoom in on the image to delete all the back ground, do this by going to View-Zoom in. Then erase around the edge of the officer. I like to use this tool and not the lasso tool as I find that has a habit of jumping around the page and becoming a little to inaccurate at times.

3. Once we have deleted the back ground I wanted to flip the plain image so that the planes were flying the other way. For this I went to Image-Image Rotation-Flip Canvas Horizontal. This moved the whole image around so it faced the other way.

4. Its time now to put the officer on the other layer, I need to highlight the officer so went to the Rectangular Marquee tool, I then selected the officer, once that was done I went to the Move Tool and dragged the officer on to the plain layer this created a new layer for the officer and now I have two layers on the plain image, one for the planes the other for the officer.

5.Now the officer is too big for the other layer so we need to resize him. We go to Edit-Free Transform and a box will come around the officer, you then use that to re-size him to the size that you want.

6. Next we need to just clean up around the officer as some of the white is still there again use the Eraser Tool and the Zoom Tool to do this.

7.I then decided to turn the image black and white to tie all of the image together and make it look like an old photograph. I did this by going to Layer-New Adjustment Layer-Black and White. It then turned the whole image black and white.

8.I wanted to make the photograph look old so I had to flatten the image so that the next effect would work. I went to Layer-Flatten Image, to do this.

9.I wanted to add some noise to the image to make it look old and grainy so with the image flattened I went to Filters-Noise-Add Noise. Then a box comes up and you can change the setting to your liking adding as much noise or as little as you want.

10.I was still not happy with the overall effect so decided to change the image in to sepia, I went to Layer-New Adjustment Layer-Colour Balance. That then brought a box up and you change the settings until you are happy. The red much be high, green at 0 and yellow in the – numbers. Once that was all done I flattened the image again and saved it.

This is how I made my slide-show, I though I would add this as I used some very simple editing tools to create my slide show and though I would share on how I did this.



This is the image I used for the background of the slide-show.

1. I took an image that I wanted to use for the background of my slide-show, yet it needed to be cleaned up. So I clicked the selector tool and selected the bit I wanted to keep.

2. I then went to Image-Crop and cropped the image down to what I wanted.

3. Then I opened the image I wanted to place on top of the cropped image. I had to then re-size the image so it would fit on the cropped image. I did this by going to Image-Image size. A box then came up and I change the size of the image until happy.

4. Once I have the right size I make sure to have the image I want to layer highlighted I then go the layer box and drag and drop that image on to the other. That places the image on to the cropped image.

5. I then position until happy, once happy I flatten the layer by going to Layer-Flatten image. I then did the same with all of my other themed images.
